Women’s volleyball ranks nine on Academic All-MAC
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Nine members of Ball State’s women’s volleyball program have been named to the 2021 Academic Conference All-Mid-American Team, as announced Wednesday, Jan. 12, by the league office.
Representing the cardinals on the list were: Jaclyn Bulmahn, Lauren Gilliland, Maggie Huber, Nathalie Mitchem, Mary Plitt, Nathalie Risi, Cait Snyder, Catherine Stark, and Kate Vinson.
The All-MAC Academic Honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in both athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a GPA of 3.20 and have participated in at least 50% of the competitions for that particular sport. Freshman players and transfers from junior colleges are not eligible.
Huber, Mitchem, Plitt, Risi and Starck earn the honor for the second consecutive season, while the rest of the Ball State winners are first-time winners.
During his six seasons as head coach, Kelli Miller Phillips helped his student-athletes earn a total of 46 All-MAC Academic Selections.
