Vancouver’s best wine bars to check out at least once

Even though it can be wine time at any time of the year, now that we are entering the warm season, it feels like it’s time to linger over a glass of red with good friends.

So as the terracing season draws to a close and we may no longer be enjoying fresh whites on a sunny terrace, we are still spoiled for choice when it comes to wine.

La Fabrique St-George

VV tapas lounge

This Strathcona spot offers creative food, bites and lots of wine. They are open after 4 p.m. and have two Happy Hours per day, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 9 p.m. until closing.

Another nighttime wine bar concept, Juice Bar, occupies the same space as Birds and the Beets in Gastown. Serving natural wines Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m., this has long been a trendy place to sip wine (and snap photos of their neon “Juice Bar” sign) in the city.

Grapes and sodas

Another Southern Granville gem, Grapes & Soda can easily be missed if you walk too quickly past West 6th Avenue Bar and its sister restaurant – The Farmer’s Apprentice. This place only accepts walk-ins and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
