TruexCullins Wins HD Award for Excellence in Hotel Design

Rosebrook Lodge Recognized for Best Event Space Category

Vermont Business Magazine TruexCullins won the 2022 HD Award for Excellence in Hotel Design, Best Event Space, for Rosebrook Lodge at Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire.

The HD Award, presented by Hospitality Design Magazine, celebrates the best of the most influential and innovative design work in the hospitality industry. TruexCullins was one of three finalists in the Best Event Spaces category, competing with more than 1,100 product and project submissions from US and international design teams.

On Thursday evening, June 7, TruexCullins Associate Directors Marc DeSmet and Matt Bushey accepted the award at the HD Awards gala in New York, hosted by Hospitality Design Magazine in conjunction with Emerald Expositions. Also in attendance were director John Ashworth and associate director George Janson of Bull Stockwell Allen.

Rosebrook Lodge is a four season facility located on the mountain of the Omni Bretton Woods ski area. TruexCullins designed the interior of the two-story lodge, in collaboration with architects Bull Stockwell Allen of San Francisco, California. The project opened in fall 2020.

The Lodge is accessible from the top of the recently opened Skyway Gondola. The site offers panoramic views of Mount Washington and the entire Presidential Range. Guests enter a two-story atrium, illuminated by a sculptural installation of steel and wood pendants. From the outside, the atrium acts as a lantern, a beacon visible from as far away as the Mt. Washington Resort below.

The building is home to a variety of dine-in and take-out dining options, including Switchback Grille, a restaurant offering European-inspired appetizers and entrees; Peaks Café, serving drinks and baked goods; and Crystal Hills, a refreshment point for skiers and snowboarders. The upper level also serves as an event room available for weddings and other private events.

The Rosebrook Lodge is owned and operated by Omni Hotels & Resorts of Dallas, Texas.

The TruexCullins interior design team includes principal Kim Deetjen, ASID, principal partner Marc DeSmet; and Associate Director Matt Bushey, AIA. Bull Stockwell Allen’s architectural project team includes Principal John Ashworth, AIA, and Project Architect Chris Miller, AIA.
