Texas’ European interior design mecca to showcase artistic provocateurs – CASA Houston partners with Dallas gallery

A The cutting-edge collaboration between one of Houston’s leading European luxury furniture retailers and a major Dallas gallery – home to market provocateurs and acclaimed photographers, Tyler Shields and David Yarrow – promises to energize the dialogue between the art and design in Texas.

Cue CASA Houston and Samuel Lynne Galleries, Dallas, owned by Jerry Hooker and business partners JD Miller and Philip Romano respectively, who just shared the news with PaperCity.

Currently housed in the beautiful 10,000 square foot showroom of CASA Houston’s Upper Kirby neighborhood (open to the public and to commerce), the innovative conversation combines high-end Italian interiors and home furnishings brands – think Giorgetti , Poltrona Frau, Rimadesio and Listone Giordano – with a presentation of five talents represented by Samuel Lynne Galleries: Lea Fisher, JD Miller, Philip Romano, Tyler Shields and David Yarrow.

The three abstract painters – Fisher, Miller and Romano, practitioners of the Reflectionist movement based in Dallas – are interested in the reductive beauty of CASA Houston’s well-edited interior design collection.

Photographic images of the internationally renowned Shields and Yarrow add edge and impact.

Shields, who debuts in Houston, wows the viewer with an intoxicating mix of celebrity, consumerism, eroticism, decadence and fantasy. The Los Angeles-based artist is one of the only living artists to feature in a solo exhibition at Sotheby’s. As such, Shields is a fearless conjurer of images that confront the viewer, while simultaneously transforming them into a viewer and a conspirator.
