Julia’s House gets an office makeover when moving from Wimborne

HAVING spent five years in donated offices, a hospice in Dorset is about to move its fundraising and administration teams to a whole new environment.

Julia’s House is set to move its office operations to a new site in Wimborne, having worked at Barclays House in Poole for the past five years.

As Barclays is now selling the building, Julia’s House will move to the Teacher’s Building Society building in Wimborne. The charity’s hospice in Corfe Mullen is unaffected by the move.

Martin Edwards, CEO of Julia’s House, said: “It has been an exceptionally difficult two years for everyone working in healthcare, including our fundraising and support staff who have faced periods of much longer working remotely, as part of our additional infection control precautions. During this time, they have played a vital role, enabling Julia’s House to support children and families throughout the pandemic.

“Now that we can finally get together, we want to offer them a really welcoming office space that is more relaxed and informal than what we were used to. This will help everyone feel like part of a team, share ideas and get to know each other again.

Bournemouth-based interior design firm KTM Design is offering its services free of charge to support the charity’s mission to inspire staff to return to the workplace.

KTM Design founder Katie Thomas said: “Their original Dorset workspace followed a more traditional office layout, so we wanted to change things up by creating a bold and fun environment to bring it to life. Julia’s House frequently hosts children in its offices, so opting for a dynamic design would be just as appealing to visitors.

“Our concept revolves around creating a flexible workspace where staff can choose where they want to work, whether it’s at their desk or in a more relaxed rest area.

“The main office is bright and spacious, with subtle additions of indoor plants to help bring a sense of calm and serenity. We then injected bright, fun colors into a dedicated lounging area, complete with sofas and comfortable armchairs for ultimate relaxation.
