DBM releases P10.84B for cash aid to 80% of the population of the NCR in the middle of the ECQ
The Ministry of Budget and Management (DBM) announced on Friday that it had released a total of 10.894 billion pesos to cover financial assistance for affected individuals and households in the National Capital Region (NCR) as part of the reimposition of the reinforced community quarantine (ECQ) in the region from August 6 to 20.
In a statement, DBM said the cash assistance would be paid directly by the Treasury Office to the relevant Local Government Units (LGUs) through their respective authorized government service banks.
“Upon receipt of funds, LGUs will facilitate and determine the most effective and efficient way to provide financial assistance to their constituents,” he said.
Affected low-income individuals and families should receive P 1,000 per person and a maximum of P 4,000 per household, to ensure food and other non-food needs are met despite strict quarantine, the budget ministry said. .
He said the cash assistance will benefit 10.9 million people or the poorest 80% of the population of Metro Manila, based on population projections and available data from the Statistics Authority. from the Philippines.

The DBM said the total funding required for the cash assistance was charged against the certified savings of the continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2020.
“In addition, the distribution of aid will be monitored by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government and the Ministry of Social Protection and Development,” the budget ministry said.
“To ensure the proper use of funds, the beneficiary LGU must comply with the publication and reporting requirements specified in the local DBM budget circular n ° 138”, he added.
